2015 Growing Season Notes:
In 2015, unseasonably early warm temperatures led to an early bud break and bloom. Colder temperatures hit in May during the peak of bloom which ultimately led to uneven fruit setting and lower overall yields. Harvest was two weeks earlier than 2014 due to the early fruit set. Hand harvested just before dawn when grape acidity is slightly higher. Grapes were tiny and incredibly concentrated. Almost black in color and of uncompromising quality. Aged in new French Oak for 28 months.

Winery Tasting Notes:
2015 was an outstanding growing season in Napa with lower yields and smaller, more concentrated fruit. This vintage shows balance and power. The higher complexities in earthy, woody notes it exudes are both striking and different in comparison to our 2014. Wine color is deep purple, vibrant and youthful. An incredible forest floor earthiness on the nose that was not as prevalent in the 2014’s. Spring flowers, blackberry and raspberry fruit. On the palate the wine is grippy and bold. It fills the entire palate. A bit of charcoal notes over a bouquet of blueberry, chocolate and cassis. Well balanced and a beautiful finish. This wine is designed to age gracefully over 30+ years.

Professional Tasting Notes:

“2015 Frank Fredericks Estate Cabernet Sauvignon | When we first discovered Frank Fredericks, it was so good that we were reluctant to open another one partially in fears it wouldn’t be the same as our first experience, but now that we did, this is absolutely the real deal. Notes of blackberries, pencil, shavings, cassis, coffee, tobacco, red cherry, violets, chocolate, baking spice and forest floor. Aromatic and finessed, the fruit is restrained and smooth on the palate, and as it airs it blooms into a richer/slightly creamy mid-palate. Extremely fine tannins, wonderful acidity, this is absolutely a polished wine end to end. It needs only about 30 minutes in a decanter and will blossom over the next few hours. The 15 seems to show more structure than the 14, and should reach greater heights if you’re patient, but really there isn’t much need to wait. One of the finest Cabernet’s coming out of Napa, you can put that in the book. Enjoy now over the next 10+ years.” 98+ points – The Wine Guys

“2015 Frank Fredericks Estate: “Violets with ripe, attractive red plums and blackberries, adding dark plums on the palate, delivered in fleshy, expressive and approachable style. Long, vibrant plum finish with roasted coffee to close. Drink or hold.” – James Suckling

“Here is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark ruby/Inky in color with a reddish rim. Fruity nose of blueberries, blackberries, black currants, Mediterranean spices, light cedar, chocolates, vanilla, earth, leather, tobacco leaf, wild flowers, black pepper and coffee. Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate with black currants, blackberries, light cedar, licorice, cola, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, light vanilla, spices, earth, peppercorn and leather. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Rich, but not too much in your face. Nicely balanced with lots of elegance. Fruit forward with nice complexity and mouthfeel. This is a great example of a young wine with a wonderful nose, without too many secondary notes. Very impressive. Needed an hour to open up, but much better after 2 hours in the decanter. I had the 2014 vintage not too long ago, and I liked this even better. This 6 year old is already delicious, and will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will pair nicely with a big piece of steak as well. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses. A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Merlot. Aged for 28 months in French oak barrels. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 94 points” – Odedis Wine Reviews
